APRIL BLOG CHALLENGE

Hello fellow scrapping friends! Welcome to the April Blog Challenge! As you must have noticed we have upped the amount of tutorials and ways to stretch your stash. This way we try to bring you creative and innovative ways to approach your pages and get you out of your comfort zone!
If by chance the posts haven't convinced you yet to give the tutorials a try then the chance of winning a 10 dollar coupon to the Pink Reptile store just might! ;)

Before we get into the nitty gritty of our new monthly challenge though, let's find out who's entry for the March Template Challenge is the lucky winner. You can take a peek at all the amazing entries  here.

Lucky Chippi is our winner for this month!!!

Congratulations Chippi!!! You have a notification on your TLP account.
All other participants also received their 25% discount coupons via their Lilypad gallery accounts. Please make sure you check your messages everyone and if your coupon didn't come through send an e-mail to pinkreptiledesigns at gmail dot com!

Here's Chippi's beautiful page:

For this month's challenge we want you to use a technique from a tutorial that was posted on the Pink Reptile Blog. You can find all tutorials here. You can pick whatever technique from the tuts you like best even if you have use the technique before. Your entry has to be a brand NEW page though. Not one you made in the past. Of course we love to hear why you chose this specific technique.

So in short:
I can't wait to see you pages!

Check out these inspiring pages by the Pink Ladies:

by diane

Diane used the "Halftone Black & White" technique.  She was challenged to see if she could reproduce the effects using Photoshop Elements.

She followed the tutorial directions but found she had to use ENHANCE (instead of IMAGE) to make her photo a high contrast black and white version.  She started by using these steps: Enhance>Adjust Color>Remove Color, then she did: Enhance>Convert to black and white>Newspaper.  She tweaked it a bit more with: Enhance>Adjust Lighting>Levels.  Once she was satisfied with her black and white copy of her photo, she duplicated it and continued on with the tutoria'ls directions.

She decided to show what the black and white photo looked like before the halftone by clipping a copy of it to a mask, positioned it in a layer above the halftone version, added a shadow and viola! A few embellishments and her eye catching page was done!

by géraldine

Géraldine used the "Desigining with Overlays" technique on her page and with it created a beautiful layer of depth in color in her dreamy photo. The overlay also helps lead the eye to the kite that otherwise maybe would get lossed in those beautiful clouds. A beautiful cluster with a pop of colors is the perfect finishing touch.

by gaëlle

Gaëlle dressed up her ampersand as explained in the "Dress Up Your Ellies" three way tutorial, adding a fun colorful and eye catching accent that immediately draws your eye to that beautiful photo of a tender moment between mother and child.

by rozsá

Rozsá used the "Playing With Wordarts As Your Title" tutorial by Jenn Marione and blended one of the wordarts of the Spring Flutters elements [Dream] with Spring Flutter paper no. 8 creating a fun and funky title for her sweet and playful page about her brand new puppy.

by erin

Erin played with the "Dry Embossing Papers" technique. She created a gorgeous background paper for the photo of her son having a blast at the playground. The wordarts combined with the alpha are just as stunning by the way. Wow!

by jenn marione

This page is by Jenn Marione in which she uses the "Pixelizing" technique on her photo. Combined with the embellihed squares on the left, the square matte and square shape of the page itself this is such a strong design statement. The geometric background paper adds a playful touch as does that beautiful cluster!

by pallavi

Pallavi used the Gradient Maps technique to turn her pics into black and white. Don't you just also LOVE how she echoed the horizontal lines of the public in the stadium with that striped paper?!

by cynthia

What better way to emphasize what's important then a gazillion arrows pointing right at it? LOL Cynthia used the "Repeat after Me" technique to do just that and what a fantastically awesome page did it turn out to with that gorgeous blended background and subtle coloring!

by shivani

And how incredibly cool is this last inspitaional sample page by Shivani? She used the "Pencil Drawing Effect" tutorial on her background photo and highlighted the part where her daughter hangs over the fountain edge by leaving it as is and framing it! Combined with the funky colored paper and elements this is a really artistic and very eye catching page don't you think?

Well that's tons of inspiration for you right??!!
Then now it's your turn!
We can't wait to see your rocking scrap skills!

Make sure you use at least 75% of Pink Reptile Design products on your page. Once completed, just upload your page to one or all of your galleries and post a link to your layout in the comments section of this post before the next challenge goes live on May 15th.
